Neurodivergent-Affirming Consultation & School Advocacy for Clinicians and Families

At Willow Counseling Services, consultation services are designed to support clinicians, caregivers, and systems in developing more neurodivergent-affirming, inclusive, and effective approaches to care. Drawing from her experience as a licensed clinical social worker, Madelyn offers collaborative, practical consultation that bridges insight with real-world application.

Neurodivergent-Affirming Consultation

Madelyn provides consultation for therapists, educators, and organizations seeking to deepen their understanding of neurodivergence and move beyond deficit-based models. This work centers on honoring neurological differences while supporting individuals in ways that align with their identity, needs, and lived experience.

Consultation may include:

  • Reframing clinical conceptualizations through a neurodiversity-affirming lens

  • Supporting work with ADHD, autism, and sensory differences

  • Identifying and reducing masking, burnout, and internalized stigma

  • Adapting therapeutic approaches to be more accessible and affirming

  • Case consultation for complex or nuanced presentations

This space is both educational and reflective, with the intention of supporting providers in building confidence, cultural humility, and alignment with inclusive care values.

Parent Consultation, School Support & Advocacy

For parents and caregivers of neurodivergent children, navigating school systems and support services can feel overwhelming. Madelyn offers consultation to provide clarity, advocacy support, and guidance so families can confidently support their child across settings.

Parent consultation may include:

  • Understanding your child’s neurodivergence through a strengths-based lens

  • Support navigating school systems, including IEPs (Individualized Education Programs) and 504 Plans

  • Guidance on requesting evaluations, accommodations, and appropriate supports

  • Preparation for school meetings and support in understanding your rights as a caregiver

  • Collaborating with schools and providers to advocate effectively for your child’s needs

  • Navigating therapy options, evaluations, and community-based resources

  • Parenting strategies that reduce shame, build connection, and support regulation

  • Space to process the emotional aspects of parenting, advocacy, and systems navigation

The goal is to help families feel informed, empowered, and supported without pressure to “fix” their child, but to better understand and advocate for them.
